Preparing for the Mentor Interview

An effective interview takes practice. To prepare for your Mentor Interview, look through this list of 20 questions, choose 5 for an in-class exercise:
  1. How did you get to where you are today?
  2. Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
  3. What advice would you give to your younger self?
  4. What values are most important to you?
  5. What skills do you think are necessary for success?
  6. What tactics do you use when faced with adversity?
  7. What are your thoughts on failure?
  8. How do you define happiness?
  9. What does success mean to you?
  10. What qualities do you admire most in others?
  11. How do you handle constructive feedback from others – do you take it calmly or does it sometimes get under your skin?
  12. How do you handle stress and maintain a positive attitude?
  13. How do you stay motivated throughout your day/week/life?
  14. How do you maintain a work/life balance?
  15. Do you have favorite quotes or mantras that inspire and motivate you?
  16. Do you have any morning/evening rituals that help set the tone for your day/night?

Homework: What defines you?

Refer to the definitions we talked about in class (photo below). Decide on at least 5 (five) definitions that you strongly identify with. You may choose different definitions than these from class. Find visual images that represent the definitions. Use the images to create a poster that represents Who You Are.

 Grades cover three categories:

Attendance*    25%

Participation    25%

Projects            50%

Total                100%

*each unexcused absence lowers the grade by 5%

Grading scale:

A = 90-100%

B = 80-89%

C = 70-79%

D = 60-69%

F = 0-59%
